Philippians 3:13
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Praise the Lord Sonya and everyone is this is seen by others. I was excited to be able to connect with you again since I was unable to no longer chat at 97.5 and I’ve peeked in since and noone was there. Fortunately me and another previously chatter connected and they told me about your site. Well, glory be and you look maaarveloous Sonya! It’s a lovely page and if I ever get a chance to join the chat, I’ll be sure to chime in. Otherwise, God bless you and all the bloggers. God is certainly good, and all the time, even better. God bless Psalms 150

I only knew Sonya through the radio, and I loved her Spirit and my prayers go out to her husband and family. God is the Comforter and you will need His comfort and peace. Mourn and allow God to deliver you in your sorrow. Peace be unto you all in your time of sorrow.

I remember Easter before last we had had a very hard 2nd quarter at Hosea and I was being interviewed on Sonya’s show. She loved my husband and I and loved the Theatre and really had hopes of acting one day and we made plans about her taking classes from us and the like. Well anyway, we talked on the show about the work that Hosea does and Sonya talked about Dixie Crystal Sugar and did her thing for the sponsors and listened to me. She played that good old music and I told her what a great job she had listening to Gospel music and ministering to people all day. We talked about producing her a voice over demo so she could do other creative things with her voice and before long it was time to go, my segment of the show was over - but to my surprise she asked me to stay on longer! We talked more about the the women and children that we serve at Hosea Feed The Hungry and then it was time for HER to go - her show was over but she didn’t move.
What she did was she got on the phone and made a few phone calls and then said to me - Liz how about we have a radio-thon right now and raise money for Easter? Well, I couldn’t believe my ears. Here we were in the strict confines of the radio world and this woman was not only taking time from her show but she had gotten permission to take time from the next show to get her callers to call in and pledge money to buy our families a full Easter dinner for $35 I believe it was. Well, before we were finished we had raised over 10,000 maybe even 14,000 just from the heart of this woman and a few hours on the radio. I was mystified and I never forgot that.
When I got back to the office everyone there was in an uproar. “We heard you on the radio, we can’t believe it, our phones have been ringing off the hook!” It continued into the evening and the listeners of Sonya Hamm showed her how much they cared about her and about what she had done for us. I have never experienced anything like that since. In fact, I haven’t been on the radio much at all lately.
She left a void in this city and in my heart that only Heaven can fill. And I can hear her right now – “This is Sonya Hamm at WJESUS- send in your recipes now! “
Sweet rest my sister, many have been fed by you and your name lives on in their hearts – forever. I will never forget you – and that’s for sure. ..That’s for sure.

I am so sorry to hear about Sonya’s passing. I was just in shock but then immediately started praying and rejoicing. What a perfect person to go to Jesus. Sonya was fulfilling the work of the Lord. She sure blessed me. I offer my condolences and God-filled prayers to Sonya’s family that they “look to the hills from where their help comes from. You oh Lord the maker of heaven and earth…”Psa 121

My mom called me this morning and informed me of the passing of the beloved Sonya Hamm. She told me she remembered me talking about her all the time.I was devasted and most of all shocked. I immediately got online to see what I could find out. I began listening to Sonya more than two years ago and I just fell in love with her,how could you not? I listened to her in the mornings and when she was switched to mid-day I was right there. I was already sadden by the fact that she was gone from 97.5 and wondered why? I really missed hearing my mid-day friend, especially after Brian Clay replaced her for a while. I have nothing against Brian but I really missed Sonya. It was wasn’t until this morning that I found out it was for budgetary reasons that she was gone. Even though no one asked me I think that’s rediculous! You definitely could not put a price on what Mama Sonya brought to the airwaves and into our hearts. I would like to send my condolences to the family, especially Greg who she spoke of very often she trully LOVED you. We are going to miss her but I know you will miss her more. I will pray for you and your family and MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I just found out from my co-worker. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of this wonderful Lady. The Lord found Sonya for me 13 years ago. I just moved to Raleigh NC by myself. No family in the area and I was making a huge adjustment in my life. On my way to work in my car making the commute to RTP. Which can take an hour or better. Looking for a new radio station to help me enjoy the ride. Yes, I fell in love with Sonya and the music. She has helped me in so many ways and will always be my inspiration to follow the Christian faith.
Thank you Sonya,
Love you,
Karen Strong

I thank God for all the GREAT things that Sonya did in her life through community and on the radio. She has been a inspiration to me because I have been down and she would give a word of encouragement or play a song at that particular time and it would lift me up. I want to thank Sonya’s family for sharing their ANGEL FROM GOD with us. She is going to be truly missed, and she is loved by many. May God continue to bless you and keep you all.

To the family/friends of Mrs. Sonja Hamm:
May each of you find strength in your faith and comfort in God’s amazing love, divine grace, everlasting mercy, and peace that only He can give during this transition.
Mr. Gary Hamm, we are forever grateful to you for allowing the world to share Mrs. Sonja Hamm. She touched so many lives and was an instrument in changing so many lives thru her various ministries.
I know that it is difficult now but as God applies the healing oinment of time, remember that Jesus said that the will of God is that He should not lose any of those given to Him, but that He should raise them to eternal life at the last day. Therefore it is true that, precious in the sight of the Lord is death of his saints. So, trust Him to care for Mrs. Sonja Hamm now. She was a Phenomenal Woman of God!
God specializes in things that seem to be impossible and he will do what no other power can do. There are no words that can fill the emptiness in your heart now, but perhaps it will help to know others care. Our heartfelt sympathy, love, and prayers are with each of you.

My heart was saddened by hearing of the passing of a fellow christian women. Her voice has touched many spiritually. I know when she was in Raleigh, NC, many mornings my spirit was lifted when I was driving in deep traffic. Sonya was very outgoing and gave herself in many ways. I know she is in a better place. We will meet one day!!

To the family of Mrs. Sonya Hamm: I would like to extend my sincere condolences. I’ve never met Sonya, but I’ve listened to her frequently over the gospel radio airways. She had a spiritually,God-given gift to those who listened to her. She always had such an upbeat personality. I missed listening to her over the past months on Praise 97.5 radio station here in the metro Atlanta area, but I never knew that she was ill.I pray that you all will find comfort now in knowing that she is now healed with no more pain. I don’t know if she ever knew of the positive impact that she has had on many people lives and how she has touched many with her inspirational messages, including myself. My prayer is that God will strengthen you and keep you bonded as a family during this difficult time. SONYA will always be remembered. May God bless you.
