Making Reservations: Have You Made Yours?

No matter where I go or who I talk to lately the same question arises. “Are you going to the Presidential Inauguration”? My reply is, no I will not be traveling to D.C., but, plan to watch it in the comfort of my home where I can get a really good view.
This is a monumental and historical time! Millions are making plans to attend and millions will be watching. Hotel rooms that usually go for less than $100.00 a night are being booked for 8 to 10 times that amount. Folks are calling relatives and friends to see if they can bunk up for the event. Bus loads are coming in from the north, south east and west. It seems that everybody is making plans for January 20th. This is an exciting time! But I was just thinking…
In my quiet time with the Lord, He impressed upon me how people are making preparations for this big day. Making reservations and wanting to be a part of this phenomenal celebration. Then the question came to me: “What if my people were as excited about the return of my Son Jesus”. “What if my people were as excited about the monumental event I’m planning and preparing for them”. What if everybody was making sure their reservations for my party were intact”? What if…
On that note, I began to contemplate. Wow! What if we as Christians were as exuberant about the return of our Lord and Savior on a daily basis. Truly living (as we should) like He was returning at any minute. But then I realized that we don’t have that kind of zeal for our soon coming King. Now this may not apply to you personally but as a “Body”, we’re not all there. If we were, we would hear the conversation wherever we went just like we hear about the upcoming inauguration. We as Christians need to turn up the heat and create a buzz for Christ. Not just a buzz but also help make some reservations for souls so they too can come to the biggest party ever!
Now don’t get me wrong. Enjoy what is happening in our country right now. Let’s just not forget in all of our celebrations who we are and whose we are. Let’s not forget to let our lights shine so that men can see our good works and glorify our Father which is heaven (Matthew 5:16). Let’s not forget that we are all ministers unto reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18). Let’s not forget that God is not looking for the cold and lukewarm (Revelations 3:16). He’s looking for ones who are HOT and PASSIONATE for what He is, Who He is, what He has done and what He’s about to do.
So, with all that said, let us make sure we witness Christ to someone with the same enthusiasm.
